A BRIEF HISTORY

Summit Lake Community Church had its beginnings in 1986 when land was donated to establish a church in the newly developing community around Summit Ridge. Don Walker served as the first pastor. In 1987 land was cleared to make way for a space to meet. The three rustic crosses were erected to mark the presence of the new church. In the summer of 1987 the first permanent building was constructed. Construction of the main sanctuary began in 1989 and was completed in 1991. Tim Dunham began serving as pastor in 1991. Three more acres were donated and a parsonage was built in 1995. Scott Christensen began serving as pastor in 2003. In 2019 Scott was let to another pastorate and Summit Lake begin the search for a new pastor. In 2021 Rob Velez was called to be the new pastor of Summit Lake Community Church.
